Building on the best
Building on the best is a partnership between the National Council for Palliative Care and Macmillan Cancer Support, aiming to enhance existing care in hospital settings across the UK by embedding compassion and choice for everybody at the end of life.
Through Building on the best, we will provide the support, knowledge and leadership required so that everyone in hospital approaching end of life receives high quality care that respects their wishes and needs, and those of their loved ones.
We are doing this across the UK by building on the existing end of life care programmes in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, through the experience and influence of NCPC and Macmillan and other partners in each of the nations. Scottish Partnership for Palliative Care is a partner in the UK-wide programme, alongside NCPC and Macmillan
In England we are working together with NHS England and NHS Improvement and have chosen ten acute trusts. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland we are developing our plans.
