Supplementary modules
Enhance your training pack by adding supplementary modules on specialist topics. All new modules follow the format and structure of the core pack and slot neatly into your existing folder, allowing you to build up a tailored yet comprehensive end of life care resource.
Because the supplementary modules follow on from and refer back to the core modules throughout, it is strongly recommended that these are not purchased or used as standalone training resources but in conjunction with the core pack.
Module 9 - Dementia
An Alzheimer’s Society survey found that 97% of nurses work with people with dementia, yet 80% of them do not receive any or enough dementia training. 89% of nurses said they found working with people with dementia very or quite challenging.
The Dementia Module follows the pathway used in the End of Life Care Strategy, and combines practical advice and guidance with exercises exploring responses to difficult situations and helping to signpost access to further resources. It contains a module book, mentor’s guidance book and work book.
The Dementia Module is relevant to all staff caring for people at the end of life, and in particular people working in care homes, housing organisations, other community settings and hospitals. It will also be useful for hospices who deliver support and education to staff in other services.
Module 10 - Involving Residents and Loved Ones *NEW*
Involving residents and their loved ones is fundamental to providing high quality care at the end of life. It enables you to see ‘the person behind the resident’, enhance enjoyment and quality of care and enhance the quality of life of loved ones. This module explores benefits, practical approaches and how to handle complexities that may arise.
Written by people with personal experience of end of life care and professionals working in this field, this new module contains a mix of key information and guidance, real-life examples and exercises to develop skills.
