NCPC and Hospice UK to finalise merger

The National Council for Palliative Care was set up 25 years ago, at the request of the then government, to advocate for palliative and end of life care and build collaboration and partnership in the sector. Cicely Saunders was one of our founders and our first President. Since then we have worked tirelessly to bring palliative and end of life care into the mainstream, and ensure that everyone gets access to good end of life care.

Palliative care need set to increase by 42% by 2040

A new report in the journal BMC Medicine forecasts that demand for palliative care in England and Wales will increase by 42% by 2040. This means that an additional 160,00 people per year will need palliative care by 2040.
NCPC and Hospice UK boards agree to begin process of merger

On Wednesday 29th March, the trustee boards of both Hospice UK and the National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC) agreed to work towards the merger of the two organisations. The process of due diligence and formal merger agreement is being taken forward from today.
