End of Life Care for People with Dementia Conference

Good quality end of life care is at the heart of the Government’s End of Life Care Strategy. Good quality
care is central to the Government’s National Dementia Strategy. The National Council for Palliative
Care’s Dementia Project aims to bring the two together to really improve care for dementia patients
This partnership event between the National Council for Palliative Care, the NHS End of Life Care
Programme, ‘for dementia’ and the Alzhemier’s Society showed the way forward for anyone involved in
caring for people with dementia and provided valuable good practice examples.
This conference:
- Highlighted the important issues for people with dementia nearing the end of their life
- Discussed the policy context for the development of palliative and end of life care for people with dementia
- Highlighted the power of partnership working
- Explored and shared examples of best practice in palliative and end of life care from around the country
- Created an opportunity to discuss some of the related ethical issues provide a valuable forum for people working in dementia care
