Why this event?

2013/14 has been a crucial year for end of life care as well as NCPC & the Dying Matters coalition. It has marked the halfway point of the 10-year End of Life Care Strategy; NHS England has launched a process to “refresh” the strategy; we have had the report of Neuberger review of the Liverpool Care Pathway, as well as other landmark reports such as the Francis report; and the Government has said it will hold a review into the feasibility of a “national choice offer” to enable people to die at home. Much else has been happening, including work on the palliative care funding pilots, and our campaign with partner charities to secure free social care for people at the end of life. And all this against the background of the government’s health and care reform programme. It has never been more important that we work together to ensure that excellent end of life care for all is seen a priority and that practical and experience-led policies are introduced. With this in mind, the theme for this year's Subscribers Forum is "Stepping up to the Challenge: Working together for better end of life care".

At this meeting we will showcase some of the highlights from the last year, and focus on how subscribers can move forward with NCPC to change practice and ensure that everyone has access to excellent end of life care.
