About this event

This day is one of two public consultation events being organised to support the national review of choice in end of life care.

This is a chance for people with a personal interest in, or personal experience of palliative and end of life care to hear more about the review, share their thoughts about the kinds of choices that are important in end of life care and what needs to be in place in order for them to be a reality.

Please note that the review focuses on end of life care for adults in the context of the current legal framework i.e. it will not focus on assisted suicide.

Who can come?

This event is aimed at people who primarily have personal experience or a personal interest in palliative and end of life care.

We appreciate that many people will have both professional and personal experience but the focus of this event is on personal experience.

If you are a professional working for an organisation that provides or works to improve palliative and end of life care in any setting, you can find out how to contribute to the review by clicking here

Is the venue wheelchair accessible? Yes

Can I reclaim my expenses? Yes, Travel expenses are refundable for people with personal experience and their carers, along with reasonable expenses for support from a Personal Assistant, where this will enable your participation.

What if I get upset? Inevitably, speaking about personal experiences can be emotional. We’ll make sure there are quiet areas and people you can talk to if that would be helpful.

Will refreshments be provided? Yes. Tea/Coffee and lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Will I be supported on the day? Yes. We will provide as much assistance and support as we can and make sure you feel as comfortable as you possibly can, so that you feel able to contribute. If you find it helpful to have one to one support, we recommend that you bring someone with you who can help.

Can I bring my Personal Assistant? Yes and we are happy to pay for their travel expenses and costs to enable you to participate.
