Future Work

We will be publishing introductory guidance on the Mental Capacity Act in the summer of 2008, to accompany our recent detailed guidance. We will also be publishing guidance on Advance Decisions jointly with the NHS End of Life Care Programme.

We have established a collaborative of partner organisations to help us commission research into end of life decision-making. We anticipate that the first research report will be published towards the end of 2008 or in 2009.

We have recently established a working group to consider ethical guidance for the relatives and families of people receiving end of life or palliative care.
